Healthy Meals
Lasting Community
Little Tokyo Senior Nutrition Services (formerly known as Koreisha Chushoku Kai) started on April 2, 1976 as a result of concern for the welfare of Little Tokyo senior citizens. Throughout the years, this program has helped participants to keep in touch with one another, promote healthy living and foster a sense of community.
A Place For Nutrition & Health
LTSNS serves over one hundred meals a day, five times a week (Monday through Friday) at our lunch site conveniently located next to the Little Tokyo Towers living facility.
While many senior citizens are on fixed or limited incomes, each meal we provide only costs only $3.50.
In addition to lunches served on site, we also provide approximately 80 home-delivered meals to immobilized seniors in the area.
A Place For Support Services
Whether someone needs help downloading an app, or have a question about a letter they received from Medicare, our Social Service Coordinator is there to help with everyday information and referrals. Additionally, our Site Manager and other Volunteers frequently provide rides for participants to nearby doctors and health specialists.
A Place To Make New Friends
Regularly organized activities such as book clubs, New Year celebrations, birthday parties, and other social gatherings help our seniors stay active and connected. Some of our favorite past events include Hawaiian-themed luaus and bingo nights.
“I am 90 years old, and I live in the Little Tokyo community. I have been coming to the have meals with my friends at the Union Church everyday, Monday – Friday. I can’t wait for Monday morning so I can see everyone at LTNS. I like the people at LTNS and I love to dress up and wear makeup. I love to socialize with everyone. I trust the people of Little Tokyo Nutrition Service. I am very happy and not depressed or lonely because I see my friends and have lunch with them. I feel healthy and I look good.”

What Our Participants Say
“I am 95 years old. I am happy my food is delivered to me by Shige. He helps me to open my container of food and sits with me for a few minutes. He would ask how I am doing, and I let him know I am healthy and doing good. I look forward to seeing him Monday through Friday and getting food from LTNS. I am happy LTNS provides food for me at home.”
